How many are having problems with the Paint Quality?

I haven't had or heard of anyone having any problems with their paint. Well as far as normal day to day use. I've heard of some users complaining about the paint chipping after getting hit by a rock.

i dont know how it happend, but i recenetly found a v-shape scratch on my car... but it's in quite the unusual spot, it's on my roof right above the windshield.

now i'm the only one who drives my versa, and I don't recall hitting any object that would cause a scratch like that

i would post a picture but i'm not very forum informed(?)

the wierdest part is that the v-shape points toward my windsheild, so I don't even know how an object (if I did hit something) could make that shape going one direction...

i drew a silly little diagram below. If looking at the versa head-on, the two lines represented the windshield, the V represents the scratch.... yep

Maybe an overhanging tree branch made the scratch?

Just a small chip from a rock so far.

It's survived many days parked on campus and at work well too.

I'm actually quite impressed with the paint job on mine. My last few cars got dinged quite easily in parking lots, but the Versa now has almost 14,000 miles on it and not a mark. I haven't avoided close spaces either, so I'm pretty happy with it.

My Versa has a couple of little dings where the other person's paint is left on my car... the downfall of having a white car is you notice EVERYTHING!!! As for paint quality issues, I'm not noticing any.

the front end of my car is having issues. The hood has scratches on the top which has scratched paint away and also on both front fenders where the hood and fender meet. Very close to the driver and passenger mirrors. Don't know how these got there but its pretty bad. I may post pics tommorow. In all I don't think the clear coat put on my car is very good.

note: only 3000 miles on the car.

My car was parked under some tall pine trees during our last ice storm, and pelted with falling ice for several minutes... surprisingly, no damage at all!

On the contrary...I think the paint on our Versa is exceptional. About two weeks ago I detailed the car by washing & drying it, using a clay bar on it, and then waxing it with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I was super impressed with the over all uniformity, smoothness and gloss of the paint job. Especially for a car in it's price range.

Only flaw in my paint is from where some jerkus decided 3 weeks ago that their SUV's door would look great being flung open into my quarter panel.

I'm not sure if I'd call it 'exceptional', but it's certainly good enough. Less orange peel than the average BMW, even. Our's has a few very small rock chips in the front bumper, but I'm not too surprised, and nor would I consider that a 'problem'. The rest of the paint is holding up nicely thus far.

Browsing through other car forums, you'll find that a whole range of cars suffer from paint chips and similar paint "defects" these days - even from the premium brands. If I had to guess, it has more to do with the regulations on the formulation of automotive paint/clear coat than anything else...

Your rear bumper is plastic. If it's rusting, there's something SERIOUSLY wrong with where you live...

Hate to break it to you...but, plastic doesn't rust....ever, not in a million years. As for being such a new car any rust would be a REAL surprise. And if you ARE getting rust go down to the dealer asap!

Someone purposely scratched my drivers side door when I had my car for less than 2 weeks (still need to get the door repainted because of that...its through all the paint layers ) And I also have a few chips out of the passengers side of the front bumper from working where there is major road work going on

If you have not had any damage to that area of the car take it to your dealer and they should cover it under warranty. I believe your car comes with a 120K, 5 year warranty on the factory paint job but check your owners manual to be sure.

Please keep us informed on what the dealer finds as an explanation for the pealing.

i beg to differ... black cars shows everything. lol... but the only real problems... i have a couple small scratches, i dunno what theyre from... theyre above the door... on that inch or so wide part of the car thats between the roof and door.... and also i have a big mark on the side of my car where my "friend" egged it... so that kinda sucks =\

2nd gen xterra owners had rust problems on their roof and hood. Some frontier owners had rust problems on the doors themselves... I havent noticed anything yet but I will look this weekend when I wash it.

so i just washed my car today through an automatic washer. and afterwards i noticed tiny spots of yellow/ orange color along the bottom of my car. (on the rear bumper, front bumper (less in front), and the doors). i didn't notice it before, but it seemed to have suddenly appeared.

my question is that is the yellow spots rust? because A: when i wiped a few of the spots with a soft cloth- they will come off. - revealing white paint and also B: the same yellow spots are on the bumpers - which are made of plastic- so they cannot rust right?

is there something wrong with automatic washers? or is this problem rust!

is there anything i can do!

if it's on your bumpers or comes off when you just rub it with a cloth, it's not rust.

It could be something that's on the brushes in your automatic washer... I'm assuming that your car is white...
