I was wondering the same thing yesterday, so I emailed him and he said this....

We have been busy designing intakes for the Yaris, Scion Xb and Xd. The Versa intake is done and we are going into production. We just need to get enough Versa owners interested. Richard

I dont know what that means though. I feel like when he made this thread he got A LOT of positive responses and many people were interested in it.

no, its 600, and thats if 50 of us can get together and do a group buy, to tell you the truth, idk if there are 50 of us that want to tune our cars, so many people dont want to do anything to there cars but change the oil, 50 is a tall order

Yeah I hear that. But honestly if you really think about it, if you have $600 then $700 honestly isn't a huge differance.

And $700 for a 15% increase in whp is WELL worth it. Everybody just looks at the number 19 whp and says its not alot but look at the Versa's original HP which is 122. See if people were looking at a mustang and saw a intake manifold added 60 HP they would be all over it but when you break it down its the same increase for both cars.

I would definalty buy one if they came out.

The 15% claim is reasonable, but the 19 whp claim isn't COMPLETELY accurate.

If you go back and look at the dyno results, the 19 whp claim is based on a "70 MPH" reading on the dyno. The new intake manifold is at its peak power gain there, but the stock engine has already petered off somewhat. BUT... 19 whp as compared to the 111 whp stock dynoed, the actual gain is 17.1% at this speed.

If you consider both peaks, the difference is only 16 whp (111 vs 127), for a 14.4% increase.

So, if you give the numbers a little bit of an evening out to account for the fact that the modded and stock engines peak at different speeds, 15% is a pretty safe claim.

And, as I mentioned in my other thread, its price at $700 is on par with other bolt-on mods. If you intend to make your Versa quick without a turbo, be prepared for costs like this. You're building an MR18DE, not an SBC 350... you can't just crap out parts all day long for nothing.

Not to mention that the gain was in the redline area... Not too impressive but if the manifold sets up for a turbo kit then there ya go.

He did say that there were two models that they had tested, one which provided significant gains in low torque and this other that he provide the dynos for. Has anyone gotten any more information on the one that got a bigger bump in the low torque?

yea, i would rather have more low end torque than more hp at red line

Lottery (n.) - 1) A process by which a predetermined outcome is assigned randomly to an individual within a group. 2) A tax on people who are bad at math.

Nice gains. Unfortunately, it's all up top and not very useful. If it was a track car, then it'd make sense... and the V is nowhere near my long list of good track car candidates. IMHO, whatever the cost is, the manifold and intake is a waste of $. Use the V for what it's built for, small, efficient basic transportation and people mover. If you want performance, save up and buy something else.

This would answer all my prayers if it did come out. I mean be generous at least let us get a hold of the prototypes so we can get another company to make it.

contacted dynatek earlier this evening and got a prompt response by email.

"We are taking Versa out to complete production pieces in a week or so. I will keep you posted."

Still coming, guess we just have to be patient.

Why don't you wrap heat protective stuff like coolmat around those intake runners and the pluem itself? You'll see about 10 more HP increase at the end and a few in between.
