I own an 08 Versa SL hatchback manual transmission.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this or if I have a problem. Ever since I've owned the car, I've noticed a bit of a hesitation upon depressing the gas. Even while in neutral, when I press the gas, there is up to a 1 sec hesitation in response from the engine. As an example, I can quickly punch the pedal with my foot all the way to the floor and be back off of it before the engine responds. This is an issue with a stick because of the whole timing with the clutch thing. Especially on hills. I was wondering if just because its a little 4 cyl that this is the reason for not having such great response, or if I actually have some kind of an issue that I need to address with the warranty. I compare this response with my work vehicle, which is a Ford Powerstroke Diesel where there is an immediate engine response when I touch the gas.

Thanks

Jason

No delay here. You should definitely get it looked at, and don't take any crap from the dealer trying to get out of free labor with lame explanations.

its because of the drive by wire, the is no throttle cable. its normal. it is tricky with the man trans but you will get used to it. other people just may not notice it on their V.

I have to admit, I don't know much about DBW. I've just spent about half an hour reading about it on other forums, and its weird: for instance, in the Mazda 3, some drivers claim to have absolutely no delay at all (like my V) while others claim a delay of up to several seconds when they punch it. They're actually concerned for their safety if they ever have to get out of someone's way quickly and can't. I don't know why there would be such a discrepancy, but I know that my car doesn't have a delay (I'm not just not noticing it).

In any case, you can most likely nullify any delay in the signal from the sensor in the pedal by installing a grounding kit. Why you should have to improve the wiring on a brand new car is beyond me though.

I haven't noticed any delay yet, the throttle seems pretty responsive.

I have experienced this even in Auto trany's especially in toyota V6'sI think its shifting gears (VVTI) Variable valve timing, it thinks a bit before changing the gear, but my versa SL CVT doesn't do this, so I definitely know the difference since I have owned toyota's for almost 11years before switching to NISSAN. Now I have a QUEST which is V6 and it doesn't do this.
