versa door latch problems

need help with my versa. i can't open the driver side door, the latch seems broken. the locking mechanism seems to be working fine but it just doesn't want to unlatch. i managed to get the cable off the outside handle and i have it exposed outside the window track, thinking maybe a little bit more pull on the cable would help but that didn't work either. now here's my problem the door won't open, so that means i can't get the inside panel off, so i took the passenger side panel off to see the mechanism but they are covered over with a plastic housing and all you can see is the cables entering the unit, no access to the insides. so how does a guy get the @#$!@# open to work on it.

i tried just about every combination of working the locks to 4 hands pulling the handles, the cable, bagging the door both close and open while trying to open it.

so what's a guy to do.
