LOL tell me about it. Every time that i have an issue I almost have to do a presentation to services guys, i even have installed on my computer the Nissan's FAST, believe this saves you a lot of time dealing with the parts department (no updated yet including 2014+ models).
I owned 5 nissans before buying the Rogue and the only reason that keeps me owning nissan is that i know these cars like the back of my hand.
Off topic story :I remember one of the most remarkable money saving I've done was when my AC stop working on my 09 Sentra. The problem was the the compressor clutch burned out.The dealer wanted to replace the whole A/C compressor because according to their parts department for the 09 Sentra the clutch assembly was not available as a separate component. The whole repair was going to cost me $1,800, because according to the FSM procedure the compressor had to be removed form the car. Turns out that with a little of investigation the A/C unit is the same for every Sentra form 07 till 12' and the clutch can be replaced without removing the whole unit from the car. I did the job myself in about 45 min, and i only spend 100 on a used compressor from ebay and from which i only used the clutch and keep the rest of unit as spare, and 45$ on pulley extraction tool.
Lesson of the story do a little of investigation of your own, before going to the dealer that is full of robots that only read the FSM. If knowing how to read that manual is the only skill required to work a the service department. Well, then i'm a heck of technician and should open my own shop with super affordable prices.
