you need to solve this problem before you replace the valve cover gasket. are the screws stripped?

i replace all my stripped valve cover bolts with zip ties. worked beautifully.

you might not even need a new gasket, just use a longer bolt, and put a nut on it and tighten... it worked for me.

kinda off topic there... well, i found out that partsamerica.com has a beck arnley vc cover gasket 'part # 0361418 ~ $20 w/ a "limited lifetime warranty"

after changing my v/c cover gasket 2x w/ felpro since i had my car since '96, i decided to get this set. looks exactly the same <shrugs>

went to the closest advance auto parts & the receipt printed out "1 year warranty"

buzzed an email to partsamerica & got this reply:

Thank you for your inquiry. The warranty that is on the website will be honored by the Advance Auto Store. According to their affiliation with Parts America they will honor it. If you have any problems with a warranty exchange at an Advance Auto please call us at the toll free number listed below. If you have any further questions please contact us via e-mail or toll free at 877.808.0698. Thank you. Sincerely,Chris #3807----------------------

yeah I ordered lifetime brake pads from parts america... so I am supposed to be able to honor that warranty through advance, same way.

my valve cover leaks some but I didn't find cause for concern, just tighten the bolts now and then, a couple are stripped but oh well.

how did this turn into brake pads?? hahah well i put the new bolts but the block doesn't really have anything to grip on and i doubt zip ties would work being plastic and all.

I had the same problem with my rocker cover, retapping the hole doesn't work too well cos the aluminium is relatively soft. I used an M6x1mm helicoil kit to repair the threads, and you wouldn't believe how much torque i can put on these things now!

Listen to this man, he knows what he speaks about. Go to home depot or something, get a long thin bolt and a matching nut, nut and bolt that bastard. I lost like 4 of the valve cover bolts..and those are very different, so being that i didn't want to buy valve cover bolts specifically, i fixed it with chrome bolts and nuts, matches nicely to a polished valve cover.

they have that offer cause raybestos pads are so sucky. You can't even do a couple of mildly hard braking on them and they just get too hot to stop the car anymore.
