My car has a high pitched whine between 1,200 and 1,800 rpm coming from the passenger side area. Dealership thinks it's either right axle area (bearings) or vacuum line leak. 2002 I-35 with 312,000 miles. Any ideas? If it is the vacuum line (once found), is that easy to replace/repair?

Bearing failure generates a grinding sound. Check the idler pulley and power steering pump.
