I have deicided to rebuild my KA24E, I think all I need to replace is 2 intake valves, since turning the cam gear and those 2 valves will not completely shut, my question is thought. Do i have to replace the spring and oil seals while replacing them valves? Also can the head be hottanked with the valves and everything still in it????

Sorry to jack your thread, but if you need a cylinder head, let me know. I have one that was acid washed and rebuilt that I need to get rid of. It may or may not have injectors with for sure, less than 1000 miles on them, and I think less than 100. I'm talking to someone who is interested in buying them right now. Plus I have another cylinder head that I think has valves still in it. I need to look through some of my parts. Let me know if you need anything.

dude this would be better answered in the 240 KA24E section of NICO, or in Nissan mechanic.

Since he's a mod, I bet Dauntt reads General Chat, and he probably can answer this. I'm pretty sure most of the people who would know this skim through General Chat often.

yes u should replace the spring and oil seal on the head. Hope u'r engine works fine afterward...because when u rebuilt an engine is alway 50/50. But then again u ain't doing no reboring work or anything.

If you are going to pull off the head to replace some valves, might as well replace the valve stem seals also since they are on the verge of leaking with a motor that old.

You remove the spring retainers and they fall out. Replace the valve stem seal, valve, and pop the retainer back on. Why don't your valve close all the way? Seems to me like either the crank/cam timing is WAY off, or you have bent valves, or broken springs.

check the valve and see if they are bent.put a straight edge on the valves, or put the valve on a straight desk and roll them around.

After stripping it, I think it was 2 or 3 valves that were bent, but Iam gonna replace them all anyways. I sent the head to be hot tanked, so I should get that back saturday, and I ordered my FSM tonight!!!! Now its all a matter of putting the head back together(sound fun :)) Iam gonna still use my springs, but valves and seals are definetly going to be replaced.
