So currently i have a 01 Frontier with the 4 cyl ka motor…

What i REALLY want is the supercharged V6 4wd and i found one locally an 02 w/100k miles and they want $10k… Its the FULL package, power everything, SC V6 4WD Automatic w/long bed :yesnod

My question to you guys… Since it has 100k miles on it already, how much longer is the SC good for..?? Any major problems i may in for..?? Should i stay away from the SC or the 4WD..??

Thanks 4 the help…

I'm not very well versed on them, but I know they had problems with the SC's at the 60-70K mile mark, IIRC. I would guess yours has been replaced one already and will probably be due for a rebuild/replacement in about 20K miles. I've never heard of any issues regarding the 4WD.

Timing belt is due at 95k. The SC should be checked as it is at the mileage of wearing out. Also check for an inactive knock sensor code. The SC trucks suffer serious performance loss with that sensor not working. It's a pain to work on. $10k is high, SC's with no service history should be around 6.5k-7k at most. Other than that check to make sure the secondary cats haven't cooked too much paint off the torsion bars, that will lead to eventual breakage of the torsion bars.

My main dilemma is that supercharger…

What happens if that sucker fails on me..?? Will i be stranded..?? Will it continue to drive ..?? How much will this thing cost to replace worst case scenario or can they just be rebuilt over and over and at what cost..??
