Glad he finally got caught. Lets see how the Canadian justice system works. He managed to get $2-$3k off people for a long time. My first run in with him was back in 2008. He said some interesting things over the years. Scammed a lot of people.

LOL @ this:

“I feel badly about the situation,” Boddy said. “How can I not?”

What happened to all that big s***-talking from before, Jeremy?

I emailed him a lot of information back in 2008, about what was legal, and what was not legal to import to the US. He continued to offer his services to people in the US. If you know you are doing something illegal, and continue to do it, how is that not scamming people?

http://www.gtrusablog.com/2008/12/drift ... e-law.html

You have to love misinformation like this from Boddy.
Next:

Where in the U.S law does it say that any car imported has to be at Federal Standards? It’s State to State.

This coming from a guy who lives in Canada.

This is the one thing in my tenure as a mod at NICO that I am most embarrassed about. I actually believed this guy for quite some time. He ran a good story and I bought it. But, this was well before I had the info I do now. I don't know it all, but I have a pretty good idea of what's going on. Plus, we have Sean here to help us out as well.

It never ceases to amaze me how HARD some people will work to avoid working.

If Jeremy had put all that effort into doing legitimate work, he's have made good money.

Instead, he's a brokedick toolbag with a ruined name and a criminal record.

Way to go, dumbass.

He's going to be evicted from his house. I love it. Want to buy a genuine JDM cardboard box to live in? Wire me $100 and I'll arrange for importation.

Some people are so horrific than anyone will do anything to disassociate them selves with that individual. Jeremy Boddy is one of those individuals. At the bottom of the article posted by tyndago Jeremy's landlord defends himself for evicting him. No need to apologize, I would have thrown him out of my house too!

Well, he's busted, but the judicial system in Canada pussed out in my opinion:

Fraudster avoids jail time after pleading guilty to 11 charges of defrauding $120,000 from 11 people in import car scheme

A would-be auto importer who admitted defrauding $120,000 from 11 people dodged a jail sentence by pleading guilty Wednesday.

Jeremy Boddy, 35, pleaded to 11 counts of fraud over $5,000 in Ontario Court of Justice.

Boddy had set himself up as an online importer who specialized in bringing exotic Japanese sports cars to North America.

Eleven customers from locations spanning Ontario to Texas contacted Boddy between October 2008 and September 2011 with the hope of buying a Japanese car or using his expertise to ship already-owned vehicles from Japan to Canada, court heard.

Many sent Boddy money through wire services or an online payment service such as PayPal, court heard. Amounts varied from about $2,000 to $16,365.

The common denominator among all clients, court heard, was that Boddy failed to deliver the cars or provide refunds when deals fell through.

Mr. Justice Rhys Morgan noted that Boddy’s guilty plea saved the court a lot of time and expense. He also said that if Boddy hadn’t pleaded guilty and was convicted after a trial the Crown surely would have asked for jail time.

Boddy apologized for his actions and said he wanted to do the right thing for the customers who lost their money.

Morgan gave him a two-year suspended sentence and put him on probation for that time.

He also issued a stand-alone restitution order for each of the victims, which means it is up to them to pursue repayment in civil court.

Morgan also prohibited Boddy from contacting any of his former customers and banned him from operating a business that uses the Internet to put him in touch with clients.

Outside the courtroom Boddy told The Examiner he never intended to defraud anyone.

The trouble began when he was sued in small claims court, he said, which led to the seizure of the business bank account.

Each time he put money into the account from a new customer the funds were garnisheed by creditors, he said.

“Unfortunately I just didn’t stop the business when I should have,” he said.

Boddy said he now wants to pay people back and get on with his life.

That isn't going to do s*** to him. The victims have to persue a civil court trial to get payment? Are you friggan kidding me?

I was frauded out of about $700 about 10 years ago, when I was still naive about dealings online. It took less than 3 months start to finish before the guy was caught, prosecuted and paid restitution. I only got $650 back (the court didn't consider the wire transfer fee as part of the fraud case), but got it back within two weeks of the guilty verdict.

What the hell is Canada doing? Hoping a lying bastard is going to follow the honor code?

Keep in mind, we're talking Canada. May as well be France. :)

Whatever their weak judiciary can't handle, we can. Time to get to know his Probation Officer. If he/she is an APPA member, or has attended a conference, I just might already know them.

Ugh, weak judicial verdicts make me sick, especially when it's a scumbag as scummy as this one.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. Here's his sentencing / restitution documents:

Well, there won't likely be any restitution to the victims... However, no one else will be getting scammed by him.

He was allegedly killed in an accident. We're still awaiting confirmation, but have it on good authority that this was him:

I'm easy to find. :yesnod The weather here is nicer, too. Bring shorts.

Spare me your speech on morality, Sunshine. I'm not the one who ripped people off.

Don't like it, don't come to the site. Simple as that. :wavey:

p.s. If you had a clue, you'd see that almost all the posts in this thread are old. Pay attention - No one made fun of anyone.

Boddy was scum who spent years hustling people, taking their money and destroying their dreams. I would never promote the death penalty for such crimes, but cry if he gets bounced off the hood of a car and his melon cracks open on the pavement, not a chance.

Anyone who still loved him had to know what he was and what he was doing and are thus complicit in his crimes. No tears for them either.
