Hello,

I'm new to this forum and thought I would share my experience. I took my 2004 Murano in for an oil change at the Dealership and decided to browse the show room and saw what looked like a baby Murano. As I began investigating a salesman ask me if I would like to take if for a test drive. After driving it for about 30 minutes I was somewhat impressed. After some due dilligence I decided I would turn in my Murano for the Rogue. I selected the wicked black/black cloth interior with all the bells and whistles and at that point I became a little more excited. My car payment is $40.00 less, my insurance went up $59.00 for the year and I have not filled up yet; but I'm sure it will be less than the Murano as it took premium only. Now I'm truly a happy camper.

Previous owner of the following Nissans: 1996 Maxima SE, 1998 Pathfinder LE, 2001 Pathfinder LE, 2004 Murano SL AWD and now 2008 Rogue SL AWD Premium package.

Wow thats cool! I always think I couldn't do something like that (spur of the moment car purchase) because I LOVE to research my cars before I buy them. What colour, options did you get?

Hi,

I normally would have spent more time researching a purchase of this magnitude had it been any other vheicle other than Nissan. I have NEVER had a problem with any Nissan I've owned/leased. I have also owned many Ford, GM and Honda products and still have the option of purchasing a Ford/GM at a discount; but Nissan has been my choice for the last 5 vheicles as NMAC have provided me the best quality/service overall.

I also agree with other posters that your dealeship and service department is key with making your experience favorable. Superior Nissan in Troy, MI have done just that.

I selected the wicked black/black interior SL AWD premium package and I could not have made a better selection. It offers so many nice features and I'm having tons of fun with the Rogue. The bluetooth capability is awesome, the intelligent key is genuis, The Xenon Headlights with the blue tent is well, what can I say! I'm still exploring the many options and I get more excited everytime I open the door and start it up.

I jumped from Murano 2004 SL AWD to Black/Black Rogue SL AWD w everything.General filing : Murano is solid rock - Rogue have separate suspension and seats, and doors, and engine . Seats in Murano more comfortable. In Murano you can drive as you want - in Rogue you'll drive as Rogue can.I really missed Murano's climate control, auto headlight on/off.Sound system in Rogue Excellent.Fuel economy little less then expected - after 4k miles the average is 21 mpg The on board computer display is toooooo small - after Murano's huge display If you can afford New Murano check it before switch to Rogue .

Congratulations and welcome to the Rogue family!

I'm glad you are enjoying your vehicle! I'm with Cristen, I don't think I could be as spontaneous with such a big purchase, but I have a friend who did almost the exact same thing as you did- she was driving home on a rainy night and stopped in at a dealership, that she was passing, replace one of her windshield wiper blades. About an hour later she walked out with a brand new car!

I admire you both!

Hi Roguer,

You are 100% correct with all you stated in your general filing; I could not agree more. It's a great vheicle and there are many things I miss about the Murano as well; however, from a practical stand point I had to downsize.

For those who can AFFORD a Murano along with the PREMIUM GAS, I SAYGO FOR IT!

For those like me who can't, get the ROGUE so when GAS reach $4.00 a gallon, we'll be lOl all the way to the pump.

Msdarkdiva,

Thank you for your post!

There are some products one may have to research more in depth than others; but it's my experience from previous Nissan automobiles I've owned/leased they were of GREAT QUALITY and I NEVER had any problems leaving my research to a minimal.

My research was based on the following:

Nissan's PROVEN Track Record (1996 - 2008)Rogue Test Drive (Somewhat Impressed)Rogue Reviews from several websites (Favorable)

Although I miss some things about the Murano, I'm very happy with the Rogue.

Congrats on your purchase. I am sure you will enjoy it.

As for Nissan reliability, this is now the 4th Nissan I've owned. All were fairly reliable and never left me stranded... knock on wood.

- '87 Pathfinder SE-V6- '90 240SX- '03 Altima 2.5S- '08 Rogue SL

Honestly the Rogue was a sort of unexpected purchase for myself as well. I was planning to trade the Alty later this year for a Rogue. I had done the research and I was just waiting for the right time. I strolled into the dealer a month ago just to look around and they made such a good offer I jumped at it.

philipa_240sx,

Congrats to you as well,

From the time I drove the Rogue from the dealership home, I immediately began familiarizing myself with it's many features. The "Memo Pad" feature is great for leaving notes that I would normally forget. Blue-tooth & intelligent key is also wonderful. I no longer have to pull out my keys, phone & ear piece anymore. It's the little things that make me so happy. I have not used the "Paddle Shifters" yet; but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

As I'm responding to your reply, it came to mind, I have owned many Hi-end vehicles and I cannot ever remember being as excited as I am with the Rogue. What a Revelation!

What color & options did you get? What do you like most about your Rogue?

Mine is far more basic than yours....

An SL FWD in Iridium graphite. No additional options save for tinting the side windows. I test drove AWD and models with the premium pack which includes the paddle shifters. I personally did not care for the paddle shifters, nor the sunroof so I nixed the premium pack. The SL already came with my most liked options including:

- Heated mirrors- Heated seats- Alloy wheels- Tinted windows

I enjoy my purchase and the Rogue gives me the same excitement as every other Nissan I've owned.

We got into a crossover seeking mode when my wife came home from a business trip. She had rented a PT Cruiser. We drove it around and while we weren't big fans of the PT Cruiser's styling, we really liked the fuel mileage and ease of getting in and out of parking spots. Both of us had Ford F-150s at the time. My wife really enjoyed the "car" experience again and I told her that if she wanted, we could look for a car or a crossover, since we really didn't need 2 pickup trucks anymore. The next day we went to a Mazda dealer and drove a CX-7. We then looked at the Ford Edge. CX-7 was nice, but fuel mileage and price were not what were looking for. The Edge was too big, too expensive and got even worse gas mileage. Then we went to the Nissan dealer. We saw a used Murano and it was nice. Then we headed to the new cars and an orange Rogue caught our eye. At first we thought was a Murano, but then quickly realized it was smaller. We had no idea what a Rogue was before that.

After a test drive, we were impressed. It was high off the ground, which we need because of our gravel driveway. It got great gas mileage and had a very nice interior. We were hooked. We left the dealership and thought about it overnight and decided to get it. I ended up going to a different dealer since that dealer only had orange and blue. Of course, looking back, I kind wished we had gotten the orange one, but we ended up with a Phantom white SL and we're very happy with it.

We went from not even thinking of buying a new car one day to trading in our truck and buying a Rogue 3 days later. It definitely turned out to be a great decision.

Congrats on the black Rogue. I love black, but I already have 2 black vehicles and it's hard enough keeping them clean.

The heated mirrors and heated seats come with the leather package I believe as I don't have either and I have an SL.

I gotta start a thread on the differences between the US and Canadian models.

SL's in Canada get a few options the US ones don't:

- Block heater- Heated side view mirrors- Heated driver & passenger cloth seats- Low windshield washer fluid indicator

I guess Nissan Canada figured these are desireable due to our colder climate. :-)

Philipa_240sx,

I didn't realize the options were different in Canada vs. U.S.It sounds as though your Rogue is like going to Burger King. You had it your way.

I'm happy you're just as excited with the Rogue as you havebeen with all your previous Nissans. Nissan automobiles have been very kind to me also.

Etch,

Congrats to you and your wife on your New Rogue. You guys really made a drastic change downsizing from a F-150 to a Rogue. It was very interesting to here your experience on the differnt cars you test drove and why you selected the Rogue over the other cars you tested. IMHO your secletion is on the money. I may be just a wee bit bias!

Enjoy all the Rogue has to offer.

Yup, I agree. The wife is very happy with the purchase. Fortunately she wasn't at the dealer when I bought the car, or we wouldn't have gotten it. The actual purchase was one of the worst car buying experience I ever had. They were very hard to negotiate with and used a lot of shady calculation tactics. I spent about 6 hours haggling and was about to walk out. It's not so bad when you don't have a trade-in, but if you got to trade in a truck during a period of high gas prices, you will have a hard time getting what you want for the trade.

Different in Canada. The SL gets heated seats and mirrors up here.
