There's MMO oil treatment in a liter bottle that gets added directly to the oil. They also have MMO gas additive in a pint bottle. Get the oil additive and follow the instructions on the bottle.

ok, because I saw the gas treatment and was a bit confused.

Can I add the MMO the day before I change the oil and then use the BG quick clean right before the oil change and follow it up with MOA?

That's the stuff. The original product (pictured) can be used in gas or oil. The now make a MMO just for fuel treatment. It's kept my lawnmower's engines starting on the first pull the past few years also.

According to my local Infiniti dealer's BG distributor, the Quick Clean has been discontinued. They now reccomend BG Engine Purge which is better and stronger according to them.

Does anybody have any knowledge on this product

Unfortunately the Purge is for one problem and the Quick Clean for something else.

To many quasi techs didn't follow precise instructions and caused damage, thus the milder Purge.

MMO contains chloronated hydrocarbons which are not the best for bearings..............methyl and methylene chloride but at 1% probably cannot cause much harm in short term use.

" In 1923, Pierce went out on his own, incorporated as Marvel Oil, and began selling his recipe of light oil and other chemicals as "Mystery Oil", claiming it to be a "universal lubricant and cleaner". One of the more recent VP's of the Marvel Oil Company is quoted as saying: "'The basic formula hasn't changed since 1917".

"Marvel Mystery Oil is a light viscosity oil, roughly equivalent to an SAE 3W, containing (among other things) about 20 percent solvent (probably mineral spirits plus a chlorohydroganate), dye, wintergreen for smell, and 790 PPM of a phosphorous additive."

At least none of these products won't hurt engines if directions are followed PRECISELY!

Found a dealer with both the Quick Clean and MOA after calling about 10 different places and none carried it or never heard of it even though they carry BG products.

Go figure

They gave me BG 109 and MOA together in a pack not the Quick clean.

Will this do the trick?

I thought BG Quick Clean and 109 were similar.

Check it out.

I think Quick Clean for the crankcase is quite different.

Both of them are put in the crankcase. The 109 is for compression while the Quick Clean is more of a cleaner.

I don't know if it's going to help with my lifters which is whats ticking.

This weekend I'm going to change the oil.Once with cheap oil and filter then with Mobil 1 and filter.

I'm debating whether or not to use the 109

Use the Quick Clean as prescribed (15 minutes at idle immediately before oil and filter change) then use MOA on the refill.

Can't speak to 109.

Lood for a high detergent oil that carries a diesl recommendation and change again in 1500 - 2000 miles and see how that does.

There is an ancient oil thread that is still quite relevant.

No one around where I am carry the Quick Clean.

I tried the Marvel Mystery Oil and no change.

I'm hoping the oil change corrects the problem

Yea I called Joe and won't get here till next week. I want to do the oil change tomorrow and I use the bgfindashop feature and everywhere I called didn't have it. the best they could do was the 109 or the purge.

Going to be doing a cheap oil and filter change and then follow it up with a Mobil 1 oil and filter change

Did the oil change used the 109.

Did two oil changes. Still making a click or tick noise.

Could it be valve related?

Well, if you are sure it is not the injectors, you should run the highdetergent oil for 1,500 miles. It won't be instantly clean.

The injectors tick when they open and close.

If you have M1 now, let it tun it's course, then decide what to do next.

OK I'm going to let it run it's course.

When I accelerate the ticking gets louder. In park it's loud and when in drive but the brake pedal engaged the noise is low

Can the (chloronated hydrocarbons) be removed from Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) or are they essential to its purpose?\

Sorry I am not a chemist but I do not want to risk any damage to my engine.

Stupid to add isoheet to fuel already containing ethanol.

Its my opinion that anything that you use from a chain autoparts store as its supposed to be used probably wont do much, or hurt your engine in any way...

By the way, last oil change I did I probably went longer than I should have.. So I drained the oil, put in fresh oil (no new filter), drove about 100 miles, added some BG quick clean and I was amazed by how well it cleaned things up.. the oil was definitely dirty... I'll probably do that the next couple oil changes...

Did you use Conventional (Dino) or Synthetic oil at any time during the oil change Wes?

Paul,

not easy to remove the chlorinated hydrocarbons at home,
they have to be distilled off slowly at a very exacting temp/pressure,
thats why you see all those huge refinerys in NJ. I would say its impossible with a "home still"
I used to add half bottle MMO to gas tank and the other the day prior to changing
oil in my honda, didint see any ill effects, I have not added anything to gas tank of Q
now thou, i ve un Godly bad luck with fuel injs, and having just completed total rehab,
I prolly wont add anything other than isoheet,

Rob
Thats what i feared and with such a low hydrocarbon amount I doubt going through all the trouble to do that is worth it, Especially for people that use it one time to fix a problem.
