lol i just finished doing the same thing, but i put my fuse boxes in the glove box. i don't really like em there and i'll probably relocate em soon. but it made the engine bay so so so much cleaner. me + soldering iron = win.

i'll take pix tomorrow.theres only like 8 wires on the psgr side fender just for headlights and turn signals. soooo much better.

thanks, i hadn't thought that leaving the full harness wouldn't leave room for the heater core

awsome post. I got question thats kinda off the topic... ok some of the wires on my car are spliced... like someone didnt cut the wire, but stripped a piece of rubber in the middle of the wire. They eletric taped.. is there a kind of a rubber one can apply to it, or somthing like a heat shrink? dont wanna use heat shrink because i dont have anything to solder it back after i cut it. ty

^Seriously, no wires. That's crazy. Clean engine bays. I can't wait till I get an eg hatch.

EDIT: why do they have those covers on the MC's?

Nice work, I've had to rewire harnesses for rally cars and that at least requires trimming the fat, so I feel your pain there.

One question, with Nissan ecus, are the injector harnesses picky with wire gauge, type of wire, and length? I've run into that problem with other makes.

umm, I dont know, Ive always used the same gauge wire, I would say play it on the safe side and use the same gauge, you dont want them not getting enough voltage.

yeah i always use the same gauge, and since i have a spare harness, i cut lengths of factory wires in the same color so everything is is still the right color for diagrams and such

yeah it was pretty simple though, when extending the turn signal wires, i just used the turn signal wiring. correct gauge and same color, etc

Hey WC I've come across quite a few of your threads lately... you aren't too far away really... I'm up York area at least once a week or so (GF family).

Anyway I'm starting on some re-wiring as well, but I'm considering going full custom. The more I look at the harness, the more connectors I see really hosed up.

How did you / are you handling the larger gauge wires? I assume you have the battery relocated? Did you run a separate wire for the fuse box feeds (the few connections that tap onto the battery terminal).

Cheers,Jamie

DO NOT get me wrong. I can certainly appreciate the time and effort in a clean *** tuck. The following just reflects my particular cup of tea.

Wire tucks are one of the biggest wastes of time in my opinion. Yes I just said I appreciate the time; I did not mean MY time (for the smart asses). I don't drive to meets and pop my hood. I don't post pics of my engine bay online. I have a hood to hide (and protect that ****). My engine bay is meant to go fast, not look pretty. I don't care what my bay looks like. And now that I've typed this I don't know why I'm injecting my opinion into this, but I'm gonna do it anyway. And just say that everything is looking great...and I do look forward to seeing the final product.

Now my computer on the other hand, like the avatar to the left, sits on my desk and looks pretty. I'll tuck a computer all day long, but my car...maybe if I had a see-through hood.

And yes, I do get impulses while working on my car to tuck wires and clean **** up...but then I think...why? It won't make it any faster, and since I don't hard park and pop my hood; it won't look any better.

well i see where you're coming from and to be honest i had the same mind set when i first got into cars, but somewhere along the line my tastes changed, and even though there is no performance to be gained from it, i'm going to do everything exactly how i want it and that includes me being a nazi for a clean look. it's good enough for me that you can appreciate it even though you aren't particularly a fan.

patience is definitely key to this whole project but it's paying off. i really like this sort of thing though and we had fun doing it. one night when keegan, my brother and myself were working on it, keegan busted out his laptop and put step brothers on as background noise

my stuff from wirecare should be in today, so i hope to get more done

I don't necessarily want to spend the extra time and $ to do a full on tuck, but I do like a clean harness at least. I had my cleaned up since it looked so nasty, but I enjoy seeing others clean up thier wiring. Seriously though, where are the wires in those civics? Under the motor?

or maybe you're just an ill informed dip**** who has nothing positive to say about things you do not know about.

While they put trendy sock covers on top of the reservoirs it's to keep any fluid that may boil over from track use from getting all over the engine bay, the exhaust manifold specifically so they don't catch on fire.

I'm sure if you saw it on a nissan before you got your car, the first thing you would've bought were some damn warm wrist bands.

Yes because your single friend represents the honda community, same goes for people building track cars for starbucks meets. Your logic upset me.

nice to see this thread is getting out of hand looks like the final product will have to wait though. due to some stuff i had to take care of, it didn't suit to have keegan help finish the wiring this evening.

keegan- let me know what evenings suit you, i'll probably get a hold of you tomorrow and see what works
