I was installing my front cover today, and went to tighten down one of my oil pan bolts. Well I got a little excited and twisted the head right of the bugger. It's one of the ones thet bolts into the front cover. Should I just wait and start up the car to see if it leaks. Or do i need to find a way to get the bolt out, and put a new one in?Ryan

hey, didn't I warn you a while back about that?...well, I guess it's a different case, the aluminum threads didn't strip, the bolt head sheared off. Chances are, you'll be fine. it's like 1 out of 12 or so. You may have a tiny drip at first, and If you let that go it'll probably seal itself....It's not like there is a ton of pressure in there. But If you wanna be thorough, you can get it out with one of those seized/stripped screw removers from sears or something. Oh yeah, GET A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL. torque.

Actually I do have a FSM. What it was is that the bolt I was using was the wrong one, and a little bit longer. So while it looked like it wasn't in all the way, it actually was, and: "Off with the head" Good to know it souldn't ne that big of a deal though. And I did put a ****load of RTV down there so the seal should be damn good.Ryan

Try that out, if it leaks, then pull the stud and get a new bolt, the right size this time.
