Yello!

A long time ago - people used turbotimers on turbo cars. to help cool down turbos, to help with their longevity.
are people still using those? or everybody has gotten too much money and don't give a flying duck about turbo longevity?

The T33's have a whole separate cooling system for the charge air cooler, and I think with modern materials, Nissan feels like the turbo hardware won't cook enough after shutdown to warrant running the fan. However, while I haven't had one apart to play with yet, the fans look to be DC brush types with a FET controller just like Infinitis have used for ages. That means you should be able to rig your own post-run setup pretty easily by using a Hella timer relay to ground the PWM line for some preset time after shutdown. Dunno that it's necessary, but it couldn't hurt.

hm... I was thinking more like wiki defines turbo timer - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_timer
keeping engine running for short while. though - that would be really tough novadays, I imagine. with all the security all over electronics etc etc.

not just (if I got right your point) let vents do turn and let some pump circulate coolant via engine (Like GM used to on their V6 engines in beginning of 90s - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_M ... _V6_engine )

but idea of some additional pump cooling keeping coolant/oil flowing is nice one.

The T33's actually have a separate electric pump for the intercooler loop, it doesn't depend on the main water pump or the engine turning. Theoretically you could fool that too, and keep the pump and fan both ticking after shutdown. The intercooler pump is buried inside the left fender underneath the headlight.

hm... or just... try to intercept switching off engine and postpone it...? :D

anyway - I was procrastinating that FSM download from nissan tech... I guess I totally need to overcome it to get those manuals... :D

The KR15 Rogues are way different from any of the older stuff, so yah, the FSM would be a good idea. The whole plumbing setup is different from an old school turbo, not just the cooling. It actually uses an inlet gate valve and a variable recirculation valve to control the boost without simply blowing off excess, and the VC to modulate how much power it produces on the fly. So I'm simply not prepared to make statements about why it does what it does in the way it does. It's a very different animal and they frankly don't tell us everything.

sure! there are many interesting aspects on this one... such a shame that this car isn't gonna have much attention from tuners :( :D
I just hope they didn't go kia-hyundai way (good, capable hardware, bad software) :D
