Something like changing the top mounted turbine sensor without dropping the transmission.Techs learn by breaking expensive things in trying to learn a faster way!

Q45tech - Willing to help out a NICO neophyte ?

Just what might be entailed in a Turbine Sensor R&R from the "Top Down" (?) w/o going the transmission removal route

Is this a hard earned Bryan Secret ?

Thanks in advance !

I see you, but if you can accomplish it, you should be able to figure it out. Somethings are not for non professionals, as easy to get hurt or damage something.......like the motor mounts or rip an engine harness, bend the dip stick.Do you have a lift, a transmission jack, and two screw jacks at minimum?

Everyone of our [7] techs pulls the transmission except Byron, they are good [qualified] as any [at any dealer] in US.

My mechanic actually has a second business that installs/services lifts on the side so we do have full access to lifts/raising it and a couple of $100K (his life) in tools - Just trying to get a leg up as the idea of avoiding a transmission drop definitely sounded like the way to go - And I'll admit to trying to cheat and ask for help from you/Byron w/o a full inspection/contemplating the ole' navel on this one first - figured a few choice thoughts from a Master might save many, many an hour for the plebiscite.

Haven't pulled the plenum yet, but so far, all rehab has been very basic wrenching while learning the Q's peculiarities - just haven't run into a situation as unique as the possibility of saving hours avoiding a transmission drop for the turbine sensor and couldn't think of a finer source to query then yourself.

Sorry if that seemed a bit intrusive (and lazy on my part) - but again, thanks for all your many hard earned explanations and insights you have shared.

You'll have to wait so I can watch the process again and take notes............As we all know I am a klutz when it comes to doing the real work.

FWIW,My transmission sensor has a very slow leak, the labor for changing it just isn't worth it if you've got high milage.

As a result, I'm just letting it leak I'd only drop the transmission if I needed to replace the entire unit.
