Trying to fix heating/ac system

I'm trying to fix several electrical problems after a surge messed up several things. I'm working on the ac now.

None of the controls on the pod work, the wiper controls do though so I don't think the pod is malfunctional. I think the amp probably needs to be replaced. I ordered a used one from Z1. Is there a way to test the amp w/ a multimeter? The service manual has all these tests for the connector but not the amp. I was having trouble getting good readings from the harness connector, I think the multimeter connectors are a little too big to get a good connection with the harness terminals.

Also, I checked for continuity on the wire coming from the compressor. It made a constant beep, so that means that there is continuity. I read somewhere this means that the compressor needs to be replaced, is that correct?

The 7.5amp acc. blower fuse inside the car kept blowing, but now that I put a 5 amp fuse in its place it does not blow anymore. Does that make any sense?
