Hey guys I know some of you aren't going to like the domestic import hybrid thing or at least the fact that its not a ls engine but I have a built Ford engine and tyranny ..and a 240 with no engine so I have been working on a swap for a little bit now. I need some information on the drive shaft. I've seen peoples swaps that they just take a piece from both drive shafts and weld them together. Is that a alright way to do it or should I nut up and have one made for my application.? I think I gave the mounts figured out but any extra info I could get on this swap would really help Me out alot. O its a 289 engine and I was thinking about using my c4 transmission.

I'm sure you'll find all the help you need here but it probably wouldn't hurt to try www.HybridZ.org as well, as for me, I'd love to help but I have SBC, I know the SBF swaps aren't as popular but I don't know if that's because of fitment issues or preference.

Hey thanks for the help. I was going to ask how does your car pull with a v8 ? I'm sure its not slow. I'm just looking for a little re assurance so I know I'm not wasting my time when I could much more easily be driving around the ka

I'm having trouble putting what I want to say into words haha, unless you went LSX you're not going to end up with an instant speed demon right off the get go but you're not going to have a slow poke either. Assuming you go with a stock older engine with a carburetor you'll end up with a quick out of the box car with a ton of torque and a badass sound.

Assuming you go with an older engine and a carb setup at the very least you know you're not going to end up with a ton of money invested into the car either. The real perk is that whenever you start adding you're basic bolt ons, it's dirt cheap. Not to mention that anything that breaks on the car is dirt cheap to replace. Then lets say the worst case scenario, you drain all the oil out and race the car down the block and blow the motor, okay no big deal you go down to any junkyard in the US and take your pick of a replacement motor from any number of cars, trucks, vans, suv, etc.

S13s are getting harder and harder to come by in the junkyards around here, I haven't seen a 240 period in six months and it's starting to piss me off because I need a little damn interior piece and I can't find it, but that's a whole 'nother story

Anywho, back to the subject, I love my 240, sx and Z but I really effin love the V8 in my Z. I especially love that if I need to buy a part for the engine I never have to wait three days for the parts store to order it, they always have everything in stock and it's dirt cheap, a harmonic balancer was like $44, a new fuel pump was $18.

I say go for it and goodluck, I think the most money spent on your swap will be the driveshaft and even that will probably be $150 or so.
