I've been reading this message board for the past month and and have been educating myself on the good and bad of my 1994 q45. Great club. I enjoy reading this message board most every evening.

I bought my Q about 3 months ago with little prior knowledge of this model Infiniti. I am very fortunate in that it looks to be well maintained and the only $$$ I've had to put into it (so far) were to replace the battery in the first week of ownership. The car runs smooth, the body is near perfect, the interior is in great shape except for seat cracking, it's extremely fast (never owned a V8), the AC blows icy air, and it's a blast to drive. It is a 12 year old car (I've got to keep reminding myself of this) and I've made a couple trips to junkyards for minor body and interior pieces but haven't spent more than $100 so far.

I do have a question about the trip odometer- mine is not working, along with all the warning messages that come up in that corner of the instrument panel. I suspect that the precious owner may have had and warning he did not want me to see and disconnected it. I took the underside of the dash off looking for a disconnected plug and found none. I've also checked fuses but the owners manual is not real clear on which fuse (or module?) powers the trip odometer. Any advice from members would be appreciated.

In the meantime I will continue reading the posts and learn more about my Q.

There are 2 bulbs that illuminate the twin trip meter..... you might have to pull the cluster out and see if that needs replaced, my bet thats all that needs to be done.. The bulbs burn out..

Good call. I posted a similar message on the Online Mechanic Forum and got the same response with the additional tip to use a flashlight to see the display. I did this and could see the warning messages and was able to reset the odometer. My next step is to see if replacement bulbs are available (plug in or solder in?) and get some guidance from members on removing the instrument cluster. Thanks for your help!!
