Hello.
I have Maxima 2000. Last week I was rejected on MA state inspection due to SES with a code P0430. My SES light was on for a long while.
My mechanic scanned it again and said it's likely catalytic converter and sensors issue. Parts and labor will be more that $1000.0.
I can't do it for 11 year car. I don't have other issues on the car and still would like to use it. I'm looking for some temporarily trick for it.
I could disconnect negative battery and it'll reset computer. Here are my questions and do you think it might work or not?
1. SES comes on in my case ~ 60 miles.
2. my mechanic said that cycle starts on in around 60 - 70 miles after reset.
3. could I drive ~ 60 miles before lights come on but the computer cycle already started and bring car to inspection?
4. I'm expecting to catch that period when light is still off but OBD could be run.
Does it make sense?
Appreciate any advice and I'm kind of desperate situation because right now I can't afford neither to buy another car nor pay more than grand.
Thanks

it will not work. Also, no one here will help you ilegally avoid an emissions inspection. Your only options are to repair the vehicle so it passes or purchase a new car. Another option would be public transportation while you save for car or repairs. Welcome to NICO!
