LAST NIGHT WE GOT THE HOUSING ON FITS LIKE A DREAM.
STOCK RB PARTS MAINTAINED:
STARTER
PRESSURE PLATE
FLYWHEEL
NISMO PILOT ROLLER BEARING (NOTE: PILOT SHAFT NEEDS TO BE MACHINED 0.040 TO FIT STOCK PILOT BEARING WE ALMOST GOT LUCKY BUT NOT)

WE USED SPECS FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH B/C OF QUALITY AND REBUILDABILITY FLYWHEEL WAS REBUILT ALONG WITH PRESSURE PLATE
Image
CLUTCH IS STILL OBVIOUSLY THE SAME DIMENSIONS EXCEPT FOR THE NEW 26 SPLINE HUB. WE DECIDED TO GO SPRUNG DUE TO THE LAST CLUTCH WHICH WAS UNSPRUNG AND THE HARSHNESS OF ENGAGEMENT

What clutch disk was used then since it has a 26 spline hub?

Also 0.040" of machining required on the ID (inner diameter) of the pilot bushing?

The clutch was made by Spec they can make any combination of clutch disk and hub (spline) .
As for the machining it's the pilot shaft not the pilot bushing that gets machined. The O.D. of thee pilot shaft needs .040 of machining. You can machine the bushing but not recommended with the bushing being thin as it is already. The guys at Promotion Transmission have machined shafts many times for custom applications and it's never affected the shafts and that's coming from a company with many years expertise on trannys.

Tranny was very easy to get in, it seemed as if it was made for the car. It was nice to finally see our measurements confirmed (From paper to reality)

For those of you that thought it was gonna be a dash shifted car, shifter in just half an inch forward of center. That is the same as the last position of our stock unit.
Image
Note: cutting was necessary b/c shifter fits just above seal on tunnel.
Still plenty of clearance to remove or replace shifter.

If the clutch is a Spec they can but a different spline on it, they are really good people try given them a call

Update on project:
Going to check if drive shaft lenght is correct we had to get a bastard u joint to make connection to tranny yoke 1330 to 1350. It looks like it may fit to perfect,
It would be great if we didn't have to cut it at all.

Working on shifter handle today it will be a hurst aluminum pistol grip that I had laying around the shop should look really trick in this car.

FYI:
http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.ph ... rb25+trans

You might have to make a few bolt holes into slots and add another hole but you can market this to the KA-T crowd.

It looks like the T-5 transmission from the older 280zx/300zx turboo have a very similar bellhousing bolt pattern to the RB or KA.

If someone can get their hands on a L28 transmission and compare the bellhousing bolt pattern and shifter location we might be able to get a T-5 behind a RB.

Thank GOD we finally finished after the holidays: will post pics later today
-Drive shaft was cut 1/2 inch, the drive shaft did fit but was up against the dust seal on transmission.
-Made pistol grib shifter came out really trick but still needs alittle tweaking
-So how did it turn out?????
Amazing...... it was ment to be, I will post a video for those of you that need some seeing is believing.
I would like to personally thank all those companies that had a hand in this QuickTime Inc. , Spec Clutch , McLeod Racing , and Promotion Transmission.

This will be most likely formulated into two different products that can be purchased threw my company KCSTURBOCUSTOMS
- Bellhousing only
- Bellhousing kit with all neccesities for install ( clutch disk, tranny mount, shifter, Etc.

As for pricing , I am working with the companies to get a low price for the RB community.

So the splines on the factory drive shaft for the rb25 tranny work with the TKO600? You just had to shorten the shaft by 1/2" and thats it?

EDIT: I see you said you need a 1350 transmission yoke.

The spline is different we bought a E-cryoed unit from Promotion Transmission.
We used a bastard u joint to connect the existing setup, what size yolk you choose is up to you and your drive shaft size. We already had an aluminum drive shaft installed so we used our existing setup and made it work.

Hey guys and gals I know it's been some time since my last post and I apologize for the those of you who are waiting for video and pricing. This is a very exciting time for use and we want to make sure that all testing is done right.

We recently started to get a vibration in the rear of the vehicle, so testing at extreme hi speeds wasnt going to happen. It turned out to be the cv axles which wasn't much of a surprise seeing as we loved the t-5 (Tko) so much we put her threw some major hard launches on some Mickey ET 2s at the track. When it came time to bringing her to the test grounds (country back roads) :chuckle: we brought her up to speed and quit immediately after the vibration came.

We are working on a video for your guys enjoyment, just please be patient. Lots going on here at the shop which is good but bills have to be payed first.
Thanks for all of your support.

Woops, should have said "follow up" to the pricing, avail. details... I'm by no means moaning, just hoping to hear back from the guy in this thread. Then maybe we will have that trans option info so we can follow his lead.
