So i finally got around to pulling my transmission this evening... after i got it out and away from the truck i noticed a "dyno tested" sticker on the bell housing.
My question is does this sticker mean anything or am i simply overthinking this? I have a pic of it if i can figure out how to upload it from my phone.

Any idea how i might find out? Maybe the input/output shafts have part #'s i can trace. What might be different if anything with the syncrose if its been built or rebuilt? I dont want to go spend money on this trans before i know whats in it. My main reason for even messing with it is the 2nd gear syncro is shot.

It is currently still covered in the mud/grease/grime that it had when i pulled it. Havent had time to clean it and look real close at it and probably wont till this weekend. Hopefully i can answer that tomorrow evening.

It just means it was connected to an engine to be tested to make sure it was running as it should. It could have been rebuilt or damaged/pulled from a wrecked auto, retrofitted with new/used parts and was tested to make sure it was working properly. From the looks of the trans and the sticker,my bet is rebuilt/pulled and tested.

Had that exact model transmission in the 1996 rallycross truck thread. Was missing first and fifth when it was bought. When it was removed it was discovered to have a sheared off input shaft, how the truck moved at all was beyond the laws of physics. I had a spare that I had come across a couple years ago that was drained and filled with Redline MT90. Replaced the flywheel with one from a 280ZX along with a Centerforce clutch. Replacement transmission is work as it should...for now. Not sure how far you are going with yours. I'd start by giving yours a bath.

Well like i said the second gear syncro is shot. After pulling the shifter and looking in that peep hole it looks clean inside. So ill probably just fix the syncro problem and then check al the tolerances then fix/replace whatever is worn past spec. When changing syncros is it a good rule of thumb to go ahead and replace all of them or just replace ones that are near or past the wear tolerances? Never done a tear down on a trans but im eager to tear it down for the experience and to see how it operates.

Depends how much you want to spend money and time wise. Personally I would replace all wearable items to buy as much time out of the transmission as possible if I knew I was keeping the truck.
Ok so update time. Got the trans cleaned as best I could (citric acid and a power washer) and with help from a friend got the transmission itself out and looked over the forks, syncros, etc... Like I expected the 2nd gear syncro was worn more than the rest BUT, the syncro for first and second were worn in a way that looks almost crooked by a few degrees. And the reverse syncro is pretty worn as well. Here is some photos I took, I tried to get a couple of different shots of the 1st/2nd syncros.
