My friends rb25 tranny just crap out on him and he was wondering this...any help with greatly appreicated
The gears and parts should all be the same, even the front shaft should be, but doubtfull that the rear shaft is the same from the looks of it.

It would be much cheaper and easier to just swap the RB25 bell housing onto a VG tranny rather then buying new or used parts for it. My 1st, 2nd, and 3rd syncro and gears needed to be replaced once I inspected it further....when it came down to replacing all the parts that needed it, ended up being around $900. Most of the gears on all pressed on there, so for all the time and money trying to make it work just to keep the rear housing, wasn't worth it at all to me. Easier switching bell housings and making a custom mount tranny mount. Also if it were to go out again, it is another cheap VG transmission and very little time dropping the tranny, switching bell housings, and then attaching it back on the motor.

That is just my opinion.

This question has been danced around in this thread so to ask it as directly as possible; will a RB26DETT Bell housing bolt up to a VG30DETT Transmission?

Yea, but only the N/A z31. Not the turbo trannies. The 87-89 turbo tranny is identical to the rb25det tranny internally. The 84-86 turbo tranny is essentially a t-5. The n/a tranny is the same as a ka/sr/rb20 tranny internally.

so you mean that the 84-86 z31 n/a tranny is the same as an rb20 tranny ? if so , i can just find a tranny rebuild kit for that and just rebuild my 20 tranny ?

So then to clarify you have seen this RB26DETT mated to a Z32 gear box?

That is great news. Why has it taken so long to hear about this?

I don't see anything there on the RB26 bell housing on a Z32 tranny, yeah I've known for years you can mate a Z32 to a RB25. I always suspected but never could confirm the RB26 would mate to the Z32 the same.

tell them to replace the tranny they sent you! if they dont call your credit card company or paypal n get ur money back (be sure to take a massive $hit through the shifter hole before you send it back though)

works every time!
