2000 QX4 Automatic Transmission 240k Miles

Issues: Drives but doesnt go in reverse. Looks to be transmission AND oil leak. Wasted $2500 buying it to avoid having a car note. smh

I decided to revisit working on my truck that has been sitting for awhile. I had a known issue that was certainly the transmission but was confused by the leak location and was it including oil.
So yesterday I noticed a major crack in the bell housing area. (Pictures attached). I dont have much knowledge on transmissions but enough mechanical aptitude to follow a youtube video and replace it.
Weird I never seen a leak from the crack. It is a noticeable leak around the sides of bell housing tho. Before I noticed the crack, I completely drained both transmission and oil fluid to start from scratch and see exactly where leaks are. Also bought uv dye to use.

Questions:
Is it even a reasonable way to repair the crack and worth messing around with it?
How likely am I to find a replacement transmission at my local "pull-a-part"?(Located in Atlanta, GA and I have seen the same make and model at a couple locations. Even the Pathfinder equivalent.)
Should I cut my losses and give to junk car folks? Cosmetically it is in good condition.

Any suggestions???

Thanks

If you mean this, then it isn't a crack, it's a drain slot. Oil coming out there means either a leaky upper pan gasket or rear main seal. transmission fluid means a bad front seal. If you put dye into the engine and didn't get any green at the slot, then the leak is in the transmission.

Shows how much I know 🤦🏽‍♂️ I for sure thought that was a crack lol. Feel so much better about it now. Gonna try the dye today to see. Thanks for the reply.

You're most welcome. The grinder marks around the slot are there because the bell is a casting, it has to be machined after it comes out of the mold and will often have mold "flash" in various places which needs to be cleaned up by hand. You're just seeing tool marks where some flash was removed.
