Does anybody know how many quarts of grease the transfer case on a 1984 Nissan 720 4x4 holds? The fill plug on mine absolutly refuses to budge (previous owner may have epoxyed it?) so I am just going to take the transfer case off, drain it really really well, turn it upside down then fill it up through the drain plug, and reinstall.

What weight grease should I use? 75/90 or 80/90?
Should I switch to synthetic?

Also, should I use the same weight grease on both the front and back diffs?

And I really need a good idler arm for cheap (student... broke... broke... broke). Anybody have one setting around?
And a radiator... damn my truck needs alot of work/love

My 85 FSM says it holds 3 US pints. Idler arm bushings are $6 each at the dealer and easy to replace.

Thanks you for the response! I have a bit of a noob question; aren't there bearings in the idler arm? The trouble im having out of it is that the passenger side front tire does not line up with the drivers side tire when parked. The botton of the tire is tilted out away from the truck. Will just replacing the bushings help/fix this? I can post a pic if needed.

I really appreciate the help i have received from this forum!

The idler has plastic bushings top and bottom. Those wear out no doubt. You can replace them with the OEM style or check out bandit4x4.com for brass bushings with cost a bunch more. I am guessing they would work on your 720 as they work on my Hardbody and Frontier.

Yeah, the ball joints where the first thing I checked.

Instead of dropping the transfer case and filling through the drain plug I was able to just pull the 4x4 light switch and fill it through there. MUCH easier
