Ok, guys, the transmission hasn't been running right for a while now and I'd just to see if anyone has any opinions off the top of their head. First off, the car is a '96 I30 with 145K on it. When I first bought the car I did a simple transmission fluid drain and fill and after a little while I realized I had too little fluid, so I added some, and some problems were fixed, but the ones that remained were as follows:

1. transmission slips, not badly, but just a tad, and noticeably. 2. When cold, it shifts late and when it does shift, it skips over 2nd gear completely (yikes). When it gets warm, it shifts better, but it still doesn't like second gear and usually shifts over it, not always though.3. when slowing down, it doesn't like to downshift until very low speeds where it will go back down to first. This is very frustrating when I need to accelerate.

I plan to do a fluid flush, pan drop and filter change soon. Anyone ever experienced something like this before? Any help is appreciated.

Hey man, my 02 I35 is having similar issues and a transmission flush didn't do it any good. I just posted a new topic about it and asked if anyone knew what was going on, so you might want to take a look at it to see what people say- if anything. It might help you with your transmission issues, too.

You may have a problem with the TCM (transmission control module). I'll have to search to see what I can find out.

It could also be related to the TPS (throttle position sensor).

1. It happens with these transmissions. Mine slips between 2nd and 3rd.

2. Could be a bad shift solenoid.

3. Normal for the transmission, if you are talking about coming to a rolling stop and then accelerating.
