Car: 04 frontier crew cab 3.3L 5 speed manual short bed

My gas milage has room for improvement. The engine RPM is 3000 at 65mph and feels like it needs another gear. My 04 frontier crew cab is a 3.3L 5 speed manual and I was wondering if the late model 6 speed would bolt up??? Wonder what I need to do to make this swap???
