Last night I installed my new spec clutch (from c-rad). The reason why i changed it was because there was a scrapping sound coming from the transmission (kinda as if you were dragging your bumper on the asphalt or something like that). So i figured it was maybe the throwout bearing, so i changed the entire clutch/bearing.

anyways now that ive changed both the clutch and bearing, I still hear that sound! I think it might be the actual transmission (it only comes when i ingage the clutch and the car is moving). Does anyone know what else it could be? I'm going to change the transmission fluid tonight see if that helps, but anyone have any ideas? Its really anoyying, and im scared the transmission might die on me LOL.

Also the transmission shifts smooth and nothing really seems to be wrong except that sound it makes lol, maybe its just a loud transmission?

It's the input bearing. They all do that. I've had 4 240's and 3 of them did it.

It's not something that needs your IMMEDIATE attention, but if you don't get it fixed soon, it could possibally cause some severe, irreprable damage to the internals of the transmission. It's pressed onto the shaft, so you'll have to take it to a transmission shop to have it done. Don't let them talk you into anything else, and it would help to pull the transmission yourself and just take it in there and not the whole car.

hmm or just swap the bellhousing onto my ka24e transmission and put that transmission in right?

How much would it be to repair the input bearing at a transmission shop?

no.....the bearing he is talking about is in the bell housing.( I just pulled a spare one apart, and the bearing stayed in the bell housing, not pressed onto the shaft. )

the bearing will cost you sweet **** all.Just put a new bearing in.....take it to a machine shop if you have to get it pressed.

I think I stand corrected. I think I was thinking about the wrong transmission. It DOES stay in the bellhousing and you may have to have it pressed in/out.
