Buddy removed a pressure or spacer plate from transmission when replacing bearing. Does this plate need to go back on. Been a few months n now car isn't starting well either. Hesitates after shifting also...

Does this need to be put back in or is it just the automatics that need them?

It ran fine for a few months though. New injectors, amongst many other parts have been replaced since trying to find the hesitation. New filters, fuel pumps. It fires on all 6 cylinders. No clue what to check next til I remembered I still have the "plate" thing he removed

Are you referring to the thin plate that goes between the trans bell housing and the engine block?

That is just a dust shield to keep road grim out of the clutch/pilot bearing area; has nothing to do with how your engine runs. Although I highly recommend to install the plate/dust shield.
