I have change transmission filter on many cars. on the 2009 versa is it like most others drop the transmission pan and filter right there, or do you have to pull the transmission to change the filter

It is like most every other model, unbolt the pan and replace filter. I would also recommend doing a complete transmission flush afterwards so that the cooler and lines get new fluid and you don't run the old fluid and new fluid together which can lead to slipping.

there is a machine at the local auto repair shops use to flush the trans fluid including your dealer. Sorry I didn't ask this earlier but is your transmission and auto, or CVT? If CVT it requires special fluid and runs $20 a quart at the dealer.
