Anyone have one?

I ride a sport bike and although my father has a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, organizing time to get that, a trailer, etc. to get my bike to and from the dealer (for services) is a pain. I also plan to start taking the bike to the track maybe next year, but starting to plan ahead now. Still need to also find a sturdy yet cheap trailer to haul this thing around...but this biggest issue I have is finding a hitch to begin with. When I was looking for the 2007, I couldn't find any.

I'm assuming the M37 trailer hitch will fit on my M56? Anyone think this one linked below won't work or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Also, there were these results. Which one is better?

I would assume that anything that fit for the 37 should fit a 56 also. I would imagine that anything that is a brand name (Curt, Draw tite, UHaul) would work fine as well. I think the two Curt trailers you have listed are the same (just different stock pic): 2000lb trailer weight, 200lb tongue weight.

CURT has a great product.

I have installed a curt hitch and T-harness on my last two cars (quest and an SRX) and the fitment was great.

Thanks guys. I might bite the bullet and try it. Really want to get something for the car. UHaul doesn't have anything for the car and says if I want something I'll need to come to their R&D location in Arizona lol.

What is the tongue weight? What is that about?

EDIT: Just found the install guide for this...requires trimming, removing bumper, etc.

How much do you think a shop would charge to install this?

I think you're looking at 1 to 1.5 hrs labor charge, Even if it only would take a shop 45 min to do it. It may be more if fascia trimming is involved.

The tongue wt is the weight of the trailer pushing down on the hitch ball, or whatever you have attached to it pushing directly down.

Oh okay...so ~$140 to install. Not too bad...so I can get the whole shebang done for $300 (purchased, installed, etc.). That's definitely reasonable.

Thanks for explaining that. I'm kinda pumped, been looking for a while...not sure if this is just a new product but when I first got the car in November I couldn't find anything.

Another question...will any old wiring harness work or do I need a specific one for Infiniti's or even more specific the M model? I see a few for QX's, etc...would that work?

I've pieced together the following 'kit' for when I'm ready to start buying everything:
  • 2011 Infiniti M37x Trailer Hitch - Link
  • Harbor Freight 4x8 Utility Trailer - Link
  • LED Brake Lights for Trailer - Link
  • LED Turn Signal Lights for Trailer - Link
Still need:
  • Wiring Harness

it looks like there isn't one available for the M. My guess is there isn't one developed for the M since the manufacturers don't anticipate large enough interest. People that buy SUV and Van models often install towing equipment on them. Those that buy luxury sport sedans, not so much. I am surprised that there's even a direct bolt-on hitch receiver for the M.
There's a chance a harness for the QX or G will work but not necessarily. A T-type one plugs in behind the rear light(s) into the oem connector. If you could verify that the rear light wiring/harness for a G or QX etc is the same it will work. However, a large SUV (like QX) will most likely be prewired to receive the harness somewhere behind the bumper since it has towing package available from the factory, so it probably wouldn't work for the M.
You could buy one for other model (G, Q50 etc) from a site with hassle free returns (in case it doesn't fit). The problem is finding one, most sellers have no return policy on electrical parts.

sorry couldn't be of more help. Good luck.

Yeah I definitely understand that the OEM manufacturer doesn't anticipate a sedan being used for towing as opposed to a SUV/Truck/Van. I was also shocked to find a hitch because for a while there weren't any available (at least when I had my 2007). I was convinced I'd have to pay someone to custom fab one for me.

I might look at the FSM's for other Infiniti models and see if their lights are setup the same as ours, that is a good suggestion.

I'm okay with cutting wires, re-soldering, etc. if I need to. I'd prefer something more elegant but beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks guys...if anything else comes to mind (I've never towed anything before), please feel free to share. I'm hoping this thread becomes a resource for any other M owner trying to figure out a way to tow stuff.
