...Does the coolant control valve control flow of coolant to the coolant ring between throttlebody and intake housing? If so, shouldn’t I see a code for that malfunction when I scan using pocket scanner?
Not really. The coolant getting to that throttle body spacer should be constantly flowing from the right side head. The water control valve only really regulates the movement of water from the block.
The coolant system would not have any feedback at that location - the sensor is at the back of the left head, so it only tells you when the head is overheating.
But if you have a sensor on your radiator, it also tells you when the radiator is overheating.
So the throttle body spacer is constantly at whatever temperature your engine is operating at.
If you would like to try, bypass the throttle body spacer to see if the issue takes a little longer to appear.
