I replaced my TPS a while ago for no reason, I placed it on the throttle body the same way as the last one sat. I tried to adjust the sensor according to the FSM and tutorials with my volt meter but readings were never right. I didnt test the old sensor so im not sure whether it ever read right either.
With that being said my idle is high around 1200-1500rpms. I try to adjust my iacv but i've turned the screw clockwise as far as it goes and it doesn't bring it down far enough. My tps is reading around 9-10 ohms at idle , but earlier today I started the car and it was idling at 750ish and it was fine untill I turned the car off and tried unpluging the sensor and starting the car again..... back to high idle, it didn't go away.
I thought about swapping the old sensor back on ,but I thought I should get some opinions. The ohm readings drop as throttle is applied. The fsm says if ohm readings are not right to replace the sensor??????

Where did you get the new tps from? Its very possible the new one is defective. That does happen sometimes.

Autozone, It was cheap if I remember right. I may try swapping the old one tomorrow.
What confuses me is that the sensors are supposed to be slightly adjustable. When I turn the body of the sensor I can get ohms to drop but not very much around 9.3ohms.
Im going to test the voltages on the harness to see if its between .45-.55V

Hmmmm, thats odd. Either try the old one or just go get a replacement from autozone since its not reading properly anyway. Thats what the warranty is for in case things like this do happen...

I just wonder if the tps readings being so high would cause my idle to be around 12-1500 rpm or if they're coincidental

I would check the screw on the throttle body. Its probably opening your throttle body.

No thats not the case, I replaced the tps with my old one, it reads better but it makes my voltmeter overload so idk.

Either way its started at 800rpms but when I unplugged it, it went to 1400rpms. weird.
