Has anyone put a trailer hitch on their V? I've been trying to find out what the maximum towing capacity is with no luck. I'd like to occasionally tow a small utility trailer.

According to the owners manual you should not use the Versa for towing.

However the Australian Tiida with the same engine & transmission has these specs for the S model equivalent.

Towing Capacity (braked/unbraked trailer) (kg) 1000/600

The technicians at our dealership seem to think that 1000lbs should be no problem but suggested that the 4 speed automatic in my wife's V would be more robust that the CVT in my V.

The lawyers got ahold of the manual and made a last minute revision to the tow rating. In my manual to font is even different.

1000lbs is no problem. The trailer hitches require a little drilling.

I'd would prefer the CVT to the standard automatic for towing because the lowest range on the CVT is much lower than the auto, so the torque converter won't have to work as hard.

I have the 6 speed manual, whci his ideal for heavier load with it's close gear spacing, relatively short final drie and very low 1st gear. The abuse on the clutch is minimal.
