ok, im about to buy a hatchi as a daily driver/practice car, i have 2 choices both are 1986
gts coupe with a 3tc swap (carbed), original black paint in good condition, interior is good, rocker panel rust, supra wheels and 170k mileshe is asking $1500 obo
or an sr5 hatch with a carbed 4age, no rust texas car, interior looks its age, dash is cracked, MSD 6AL and Keihin 38mm carbs 112k miles on engine original silver paint injen springs + tokiko blues and good consition stock exhaust can probably get for about $1000
now, my priorities are (in this order) 1 gas mileage and driving practice 2 storage
im leaning towards the sr5, because it has 0 rust and a hatch.. and some suspension goodies alredy on it
(not for delivering tofu, need a hatch so i can move parts around in a car with decent mileage... a stock hatchi is rated @ 28/33 for an 85/sr5
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/2073.shtml
or 28/33 for an ae86 (gts)
whereas my Yukon gets an abysmal 13/17
im leaning towards the sr5.. any suggestions/experience? i know the gts is what all the hatchi guys go for. (opinions ... i just value the opinions of this board more than the hostility on some others)
edit> the one of the links goes to a FF corolla... the ff one gets better mileage, the difference between the GTS and SR5 stock mileage is negligable, its only about 2 different on both city and highway
