Hey all,

I've been using my obd2 doodad and the cvtz50 app lately. Very interesting info on there. I noticed the torque converter locks up around 55kph, and unlocks around 30kph on decel. It had me thinking about how I have drive my Altima. Should I be concerned about accelerating hard before lockup? Is it easier on the torque converter clutch to accelerate after lockup? How robust is the torque converter overall? Have these been known to fail? Thank you

Nissan TC's are very rugged, we almost never see mechanical or hydraulic failures. It's not at all unusual to see failed CVT's with fluid burnt to a crisp and the belt barely hanging on, but the TC is still ticking like a clock. That's about the last thing I'd worry about on a Nissan tranny.

Thanks for the info, that's good to hear...about the TC.
