So im participating in a top speed run on oct 11th, just an fyi if anybody (t45) is around. Its a standing mile run, or a mile with a head start. We will see how she does, just interesting, i put the gear ratios into the calculator and got these speeds, ive never had a working speedometer in my car so its pretty shocking to say the least considering how many times ive buried the tach in 4th lol....

well, in my younger and stupider days (5 years ago lol) i was aprehended in a 400whp sr20 s14 after being radared at 156mph, i say aprehended because there was a short 5 mile pursuit.

It cost me 13k dollars in attorney and fines, lesson learned...

Oh I'm definately down! With this much heads up I can take my days off in town accordingly.

Just need help going through car and tracking down vibration issue. Need to flog it some more and try to find any small issues before trying to blow it up. hehehe

Damn, a buck fifty to do a buck fifty? Well that's better than 13k I guess.

Done.

Should be back in a couple weeks and we'll go out and practice. lol

Just calculated my final drive and with the 4.08 I am close to 180 at 7200rpms. If I get over 160 I think I'd be scared s***less. Anyways that's not bad. If the Z can do 180 in a mile I'll be amazed. The vid on their website has the Veyron doing 198 in the mile...but I built the Z for less than the sales tax on that car so..

i hope you guys have proper aero...i'd reccomend some kind of wing in the back to keep the tail end down.my s14 tail lifted around 130mph, that was enough for me to let off the gas slowly and decel back to a 'normal' speed.

Well the good thing is that you get to run multiple times so you can work your way up slowly. Also, it's a straight line. I'm more worried about losing a tire than the rear end coming out from under it.

something to think about.... although that was probably upwards of 170 mph.... having said that i doubt we will have a problem....

i would imagine you and i would be in the 140-150mph club, i may spray it with a 100 shot pf nitrous in 4th and 5th for the last run of the day to really see what she would do. That way incase i oil up the track at least i had my fill.

I should go to the gulf, I would make 175k+ with little taxes instead of 60-70 with regular taxes.

Jerry, you have an iPhone don't you? If so do you have dynolicious? I am just really curious my 0-60 and 1/4 times.

Well another event under the belt, the Vh45de never fails to impress... sometimes lol. The car and i made it home in one piece with no unscheduled engine disassembly.

Standing mile results where kinda hard for me to determine, because i would hit the rev limiter in 5th gears at about 7/8 of a mile at best 3/4 of a mile at worst. I tried rasing the revlimiter on my last run and starting a little further in, but wouldnt you know it , i didnt get a speed on that run, the best of the day was about 175mph from a dead stand still, and you guys where right i dont think ill be going that fast in a 240sx for a long while, the car didnt handle bad at all. It was well planted and i felt nearly zero lift on it, as a matter of fact i could have probably let go of the steering wheel and it would have gone straight, its just since its gutted and sound deadning has been removed, it fell like the car was gonna rattle itself apart lol.

T45 was also out there in hist flat black monster, i dont recall his speeds at the moment, im sure he'll post up later.

Heres an in car vid, the only one that came out unfourtunatly, i hit the rev limiter in 5th gear here about 700 feet from the finish line

Wait.....did you say that was a run of 175 . m i l e s . p e r . h o u r

I watched the video and not only did you coast through the finish because of hitting the rev limiter but the first 2 gears were useless!!! I can hear you babying it trying to keep the tires under it and it does no good until 3rd.

That's simply astonishing. And to think if you had a q45 rear and/or a T56..... It just shouldn't be legal, possible, ..... to go that fast for that cheap.

Hats off to you

Well obviously i didnt cross the line that fast, i only crossed the line at 162 i think it was, they got me on a hand held radar gun at that speed before i let off.

I mean the math backs it up, .759 5th gear, 3.91 final drive, with a 25.6 tall tire, times 7200 rpm technicly says 184mph. But ill go by what they said.

you have to account for slip as well so 175 seems pretty good. almost 300km/h. Not bad at all

Tire growth and slip above 130 mph requires GPS or timing lights to accurately measure.

Jerry,

Absolutely awesome news! I'm so happy to see you get your car squared away and everything working together properly. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with, I'm just a phone call away...

Congrats again!

Good lord!

Congrats Jerry! I hope to NEVER go that fast unless on a track or controlled environment such as the one you were in. Nice job man!

No oil issues being at that high rpm for that long?

Here's mine. 132mph. Slowwww compared to Jerrys. I needed more room, maybe if I didn't burn through 1st gear I could have gained a little. The Nitto 555's are some good tires though, the stock 16's were a LOT worse at traction. Not bad at all for a $450 engine.

actually ben, id venture to say you where a good bit higher, i spoke to the timing guys and they said that in the morning there was a miscalculation and that the mphs where actually 10-15 higher. They fixed it in the afternoon.

Theres no way you where 132mph , id venture to put you in the 145 mph range

I am running 245/40/18's with the 4.08 and was somewhere around 5-6k at the line maybe? I have the vid of your run but it's hard to see, I'll upload after lunch.
