My craftsman wouldn't work. I went and bought a cheap Ampro one from Advance auto and ground it down.

And I thought it was a 12pt, deepwell, 1/2"???

i used one from napa it was around $7 and used a table grinder to make it thinner

a little too thin

i got all the inner nuts torqued to 76, then the outer 4 were on the last round and i heard a crack... not the snap that means the torque wrench saying "hey, youre all good now" but a crack, like teh ground down socket saying "hey ****tard, you ground off too much and made me too weak to handle 10x76 ft-lb work

the moral of the story: grind a little bit at a time off all sides until it fits... dont do too much, or youll be stuck with a half-done job until you get another socket

1/2 inch = 12.7mm... It'd woooooooooooooooooooork, the exact socket would be best under HIGH torque.
