I've got an SDS and I can't figure out where the hell to mount the ECU. I'm trying to get it in the stock location, but there isn't much space and not nearly enough metal to bolt it too. I was thinking maybe the glove box?

My conern about the glove box was that they generally use the casing (at least they do on the SDS) as a heat sink. So I was thinking that I needed to mount it to something that would take the heat. I'm afraid the plastic will warp, ect. Plus I've got my controller and mixture knob in the glovebox right now....

Hmm could get a piece of sheet metal and have under it...or just take the vent above so when your fan is on air blows on it..will keep it cool. What about mounting it under one of the seats?

What about under the seat? It should have more air flow under there and it will still be hidden.

Deland, eh?

What about under the stereo? There is some space back there where the bottom DIN panel is...

I stuck it in the glovebox anyway. I looked around on the net for a couple of hours and saw A LOT of people who stuck them there and didn't seem to have any problems. I tell you what though, I had to chop the shizit out of the glovebox to get it to work. It looks good though, very clean. This should look pretty factory and non-descript when I get done. I've even put the coil packs in such a way that you don't really notice them right off the bat. Anyway, I'm hoping to finish it up tonight and see if I can't get it started. I'll try and get picks ASAP. I don't have a camera at all, so I've got to steal the Digi-Cam from work.

This was the first place that I tried to put it, but due to the shape of the SDS unit, there wasn't enough metal to bolt it down to to keep the vibrations down. I'm sure I could have made it work there, but it would have required some welding, ect. Not worth the extra effort IMO.

I never considered there to be honest. I don't think I had enough wire to put it there though...

but i also used the stock CA18DE harness, chopped off the big ECU plug and pinned the wires for the haltech plug, with the haltech sensros and relays wired into the harness, and some additional wires of course, it came through the left side of the fire wall (below/behind my glove box as my car is RHD) and we just bolted it where the ECU was, as they are pretty much the same size..

BUT i am ordering a new Haltech E6K harness to do over my wiring, as i am not really happy with how clean it is, and starting from scratch with a new harness will make things really really easy especially as the car is running and i can do it on afternoons and take a couple days to plug everything in and make sure it works.

I never would have thought to do it that way to be honest. I sold the harness outright though and It probabally would have been a lot more work for me to do it that way. Plus with the haltech, you can use the stock CAS, I can't do that with the SDS. But I can do wiring in my sleep so it wasn't too big of a deal to me.

On a side note, I had a problem with the coil packs and SDS got me taken care of amazingly fast. They actually went to the extent of next day airing me the part I needed to fix them. As soon as I get off work I'm going to go drop the coils back in the car and see if she'll fire this time. Only 2 more hours....
