I hear ya. Mediocre was in reference to the VH45DE factory performance with all aforementioned 30+year old technofeatures vs. a 4.5L v8 today.
the redline is still impressive.
The audi NA 4.2L 8-cyl (2014ish RS5) has a factory 8200 redline!!

Power by todays standards def needed to be higher..
Except for the rings it had all the hardware to handle real boost too.

But made slot better than these Hemi’s with all the plastic parts on, you know will not age well.
