i have a 35mm tial wastegate. im not sure exactly which way the vaccum lines hook up. I called a shop around here and they said dont hook any up, which im thinking is wrong. Im figuring that i should hook one to the bottom of the turbo. any ideas?

You want to connect the boost signal line from the side of the wastegate to the signal source. The source can be any part of the intake that sees boost pressure. A signal from the manifold will be best for spool-up, but a signal near the turbo will respond to pressure faster keeping boost spikes to a minimum.

If using an electronic boost controller it's best to tap the signal as close as possible to the compressor since the BC will stop the signal to the WG so spool up is not affected and once the signal is given to the WG it opens quickly so no boost spikes.

If using a manual boost controller o no boost controller do as C-kwik said. It's a compromise between spool or spikes.

leave the top open. It needs to be able to vent out. You actually don't even need the banjo bolt to be installed to it.
