So i went to go buy another 240 today. It was 92 coupe i talked about recently. well everything was going fine till it came down for me to pay the guy. Now when i first talked to him aobut the car (prob. 2 weeks ago) he said his daughter owned it... and now today he said his son owned it? and not only that he wouldnt take a bank check he only wanted for it to be payed in cash. I told him theres no way im bringing him that kinda money to him in cash. I have a feeling he prob. bought the car at an auction. I dunno letme know what you think about this. I still want the car so i think i might take him to the courthouse and have it all done there.

Does he have the title? If so, ask him to see it. Do you know anyone that can pull a BMV record for you in Florida? How much cash are you talking about? What is his reason for only taking cash? I took 8k in cash for my '72 Camaro, but carrying a Glock 33 and had one of my gorillas with me at the time.

well tommorw first thing im checking on the title. Im pretty sure that taking him to the courthouse and signing the title over and paying him there in cash is alot more secure then brining him 2 g's putting it in his hand then saying now sign the title over... plus i dunno about you but me losing 2 grand is like life or death, or in other words, me getting a 240 or not. oh yea and the only thing he said when i offered to apy him in a bank check was "i only accept cash". he wouldnt give a reason why.

It does sound a little shady. Make a bill of sale, basically a written contract that says that he agrees to sell you the car for the amount agreed upon, that he told you everything regarding the history of the car that he knows, that you agree to buy the car, etc etc. I'm not sure if it's possible, but maybe you could get it notarised so it becomes a legal binding contract. If he says "I only accept cash" tell him, "I only pay in certified check, unless my lawyer, a supreme court justice, my third grade teacher, and at least 3 federal marshalls are present". Document everything and have a witness, even if it's just a friend (eventhough the federal marshalls and suppreme court judge would be better :D). Get the title and run the VIN number before handing over a cent. I bought my car from the "inner city". Let's just say it's something I won't do again for personal safety reasons, but I typed up documents, requested all reciepts, title, etc. I had him sign the bill of sale i typed up, I had his girlfriend sign it as a witness, I signed it, and my friend as my witness sign it. Excessive? yes, but i wanted to cover my *** on this one particularly becuase he said "cash only " too. But I told him that I have the money right now and I would only give it in certified check form and that he could take it or leave it AND i got the car for $1500 below his asking price :D :D Moral of the story....DOCUMENT EVERYTHING AND COVER YOUR ***!

trust nobody, it's just a good habit to get into. When I sell parts to people and they give payments I have them sign a bulletproof contract that says;I sell you X for $ to be completely paid off buy (date), you don't get **** till I get all my money and if you don't give me all the money by the close date you get **** and i keep the money you gave me so far.One guy whipped out a contract on me with his last payment:I gave you all your money on (date) this **** is mine!I had to smile as I signed it. Cover your ***.

ummm, you do realize that if you buy it and somehow its a stolen vehicle you lose all your money when its dicovered right? It doesent matter what he signs, you lose ALL your money you spent on the car cause they take it away from you.

GET THE VIN!!!!!! why are you even debating this without a vin check?!?!? Check it out with your local police and if it clears then purchase it.
