It was cheaper and I'm fed up with balance shafts and their issues; besides the fact that the 63t is waaay too expensive seeing that I do have a lot of money tied up in my CA18s and the cars they reside in. I don't want a FMIC because that will require me to have custom piping made and I just don't have room for that at this time.

for some reason though I thought ALL the fwd motors looked like this:

With the TB "above" the motor.
The 1st CA18DET's for the RWD platform looked like this as well. How many versions of the DET do you think exist? If you knew that about the fwd/awd models, then this question would be a piece of cake .

I saw one of those in the junkyard the other day, I was thionking about this myself.

That design reminds me of the RB25, it doesnt look very sound because of the heat rising from the exhaust manifold. Big duh, i know.

Just imagine trying to run a FMIC with that kind of setup...bleh.

fmic? i meant get a supra smic in place of the dsm smic. it'll connect right in place of the dsm smic. you just have to flip around one of the end takes on the supra one to get it to work right. its real easy because the endtakes are held on by those cheesey lookin little metal tabs. there's a bunch of write ups on the net on how to do it. i'm just trying to help
