Well I'm looking at an 88 300zx tomorrow, just wondering what I should be looking besides the regular stuff. I know every car seems to have it's only little problems, so figured I'd ask you guys for specifics to look for.

rust! look in the rear floor pans right above and in front of where the rear suspension croeemember bolts to the chassis, also look at the base of the "A" pillers and the lower rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels and be sure to feel behind the t part as well, the bottom might be there but with a huge hole behind it, also look for rust beneath the tool tray and battery tray

Make sure the timing belt has been replaced recently, or at least know when it was replaced last. I don't know what the official service interval for it is, but every 50,000 miles is when a lot of people reccomend it be replaced. When the car is running pay attention to the oil pressure gauge as well. Low oil pressure could mean a lack of regular oil changes and worn main bearings (as my car has, ffffuuuuuu!!!)

if it has auto climate control, make sure every function on it works as well, they can be problematic
