Thermostat uh oh question

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

just need a quick answer. i just changed my thermostat because my car is over heating and all eyes pointed to that. didnt know about the little dot thing that is suppose to point up or somthing like that i read about on another post. car still over heats. what happens when it is now pointing up because i doubt mine is

the little dot is the jiggle valve, it needs to be on the top to allow the air bubbles to bleed out.

Pretty much... take the thermostat out and put it in with the valve on the top.

I have a 90 ka24e and have purchased several, about 3 different thermostats. stock and below stock temp and they seem to work for about one use and then no more. I actually removed the thermostat and no more overheating, but not sure how long the injectors will last since the temps are so low. Fortunately I have the nistune ecu and can adust the engine temp to compensate for the injectors. Not sure why the thermostats didn't work though, maybe some junk that clogged the jiggle valve, but if you don't have to deal with cold temps, then just remove the thermostatAloha
