Exactly what i was thinking, you forgot to mention the jacking the car up 2 feet off the ground and running the hell out of it for an hour.

Also marryson, you do need to have the jiggle valve on top to properly bleed the system.

What is the sensor right above the thermo housing?

ok good write up but i have a question , i put a thermostat in my car yesterday, what happens if the jiggle thing isnt at the top, and i couldnt get mine to stay in there by itself it kept falling out? so im not sure if its lined up right , and what happens if u dont bleed it afterwards? thanks

Super old thread bump but I will help you. The valve should be at the very top. This is what allows any air bubbles to escape. You MUST bleed it afterwards. Its not hard and dont cut this corner especially on a KA. KA's have a tendency to keep air in the system and overheat easily. If you have some rtv its ok to put a tiny bit and I mean a tiny bit on it, just enough to let it stick in there.
