The thing you are referring to is the timing chain guides, same deal as the KA24 motors.... Just replace hte plastic guides with metal backed guides and youll be golden.
A new guide kit which includes all new guides, new oil pump chain, tensioners, etc is like $350. However, you can also scavenge the guides out of a 94-96 motor as the 94-96 motors had the updated guides. only 90-92 and some early 93s had the full plastic guides.
no one I know of has taken the VH45 beyond stock injectors under boost, which is about 450-475 HP, and it takes that like its nothing. Read the posts about that for more info, this motor can take a beating stock, its nuts!
