had a 3.5 pathy 4x4 MT that I could get away with the middle grade, but the 3.5 pathy 4x4 AT HAD to have prem. or it would PING.
So, in my opinion, you can use a lower grade in a MT if you know how to shift.
how many miles?? I think I would look at my plugs.
First 15 gallons of low calorie fuel in the car today. Mild pinging upon take off in 1st gear but that's about it. All things considered, there's been a marked reduction in the total volume of pinging since I replaced the plugs.
There was a thought in my mind placed there by SVTCobra that perhaps my ability to drive a car with a manual transmission was the primary cause of the pinging and clattering in my poor G. Could it really be, after some thinking, that learning to drive a manual transmission (1st car driven was a Datsun 510), slamming gears in my first sports car ('68 Corvette with a Muncie 4sp after just turning 17), roasting Dunlaps in my '66 GTO equipped with a big block chevy (and another Muncie 4sp) that I build with my own blood, sweat and tears, that I simply turned retarded and could not longer adequately drive a manual? Nope....good to know, eh?
