Please don't get me wrong, I love this site and I am not complaining. I am in the situation to beg and I am indeed begging. I really want to swap my rb20det setup into a nissan pickup, but the sticky on the swaps is designed for sr20's and it is just as vague as the search results for rb20det swapping.

My "brotherhood" of Nissan enthusiasts here helped me endlessly to build my s13 240sx and put in the rb20det swap with the LSD and some other goodies, and even to work out ALL the bugs. Unfortunately, some guy took a sudden right turn directly in front of me from the inside lane and now my car is pretty much screwed body-wise.

I am totally devoted to putting my rb20det setup into a pickup and building a minitruck but I have found a lack of information. The only answers I've found do not give very much information and no estimates for cost.

1) Shorten the driveshaft.2) Relocate the motor mounts.

Can someone with intimate knowledge of this swap please please please write a detailed guide to this swap, including cost estimates, parts needed, parts interchangeability, etc.

I will be absolutely happy to contribute info and my own detailed writeup of the swap while I am swapping it. The wiring should be quite easy for me since I did my own wiring into the 240sx and I have the FSM and chilton's manuals. I can definitely contribute to that part of the swap.

I, and most others I assume, am most concerned with mods needed and interchangeablity.

a) Is it correct that the motor mounts need to be moved forward 6-7inches? is there any mount kit out there to adapt it? How does it fit height-wise (in the 240sx, the motor sits too high, so I have to ask)?

b) driveshaft: Is there no driveshaft from another nissan/infinity that will bolt right in? How much does it cost to "shorten a driveshaft"? What exactly happens when a mechanic "shortens a driveshaft"? What models need what kind of driveshaft/driveshaft work?? (i.e. does an extended cab need the driveshaft shortened??)

c) differential: What are the possible and best candidates for differentials? I have the LSD R32 diffential, will it bolt in? any knowledge on the axle setups?

Please remember, that for every 1 mechanic in the world there are 100's of people that turn to that mechanic. So please please, if you have detailed information, please share it so the 100's of Nissan enthusiasts searching this site every week can learn from you

Thanks,

--TJ & every future Nissan/Infinity enthusiast

Is no one else interested in putting together a better swap page?? It would even be a good start by making a swap guide for the other interchangeable motors but pointing out the adaptions that have to be made.

This would help save the Nissans with blown motors from the junkyards and it would help the more advanced enthusiasts that want to swap in motors from 240's, altima's etc...

I've got my RB20DET that I don't know what to do with, so if I can find atleast a little bit of advice on the swap, I will do the full write up while I swap it in.

Well from the overwhelming response, It seems unlikely that there is an RB kit for nissan trucks.

However if you did the swap once I would say you can do it again.

You will encounter the same issues as before I am sure.

It could be easier because you can strip it down to the rails.
