I am 18 and just got a used 240sx! Ran good when we test drove, Ill see how it holds up in the coming months..... and damn it should be fun screwin around in the snowy parking lots of NJ this winter :D .

I am relatively new to driving... (except mah mommas sleek malibu!) and to car maintenance. The car looks like it was taken care of, mostly highway miles, 93k in all.

How can I get this car off to the best start possible with me as its new owner? I was thinking putting in my prefered oil, fuel injector cleaner, those sorta things, but i dont have a damn clue what Im doin :pface but I am eager to learn. I am probably gonna take the car to my friends dad for a complete overlook, he is the head technical toyota mechanic (or so im told ;)) in this area so I trust he will do a great job if anything pops up, and I should be able to get work done cheap.

I am not looking to do modifications right now, not enough cash flow and driving experience ATM to put it to good use. I would however like to get it running in the best shape possible, I am willing to dump a few hundred into something if it means nice longterm reliability.

heres a link to pics and info: My 240sx

god i hate hubcaps.

n00b = noobian = So new to something u cant tell a piston from a brake pad.

I am exagerating a bit, but u get the idea.

Anyone know of any things I should look for with 93 240's? Any trouble spots? I can check under the hood for moderately simple stuff.

make sure your coolant is either newer or flush it yourself.Since its winter and if your location is Northern do a 50/50 mix AF/distilled water. If you are in south ,a 70% distilled(or deionized) water with 30% AF will give you better heat transfer/heat capacity in your cooling system. Also adding redline wetter water to your system will reduce water pump cavitation, do this additon to sub for a portion of your water not AF.

change the oil in rear diff.change the powersteering fluid,Brake fluid (Valvoline Synpower brake fluid is awesome and not much more than the cheapo stuff, vastly superior) .make sure your tires pressures are just right.check belts+hoses.IF you heve powerwindows grease the rails with silicon grease.

Anything I forget guys?

Fred...:)

You can have sex in the passenger seat if your chick is skinny. The drivers seat is next to impossible.

welcome, and congrats on the new car, looking good.....another important thing to watch is if you have a sunroof and its a pop up and down sunroof with the plastic clamp piece, be careful when you go to open it, especialy if its been sitting in the sun and the plastic is hot..thats what i did and it snapped right in half, and im still looking at like every junkyard i find to get a replacement:( ....i bet if i had a civic i would have no problem finding a replacement:mad:

Or if you lay the back seat down, and your front seats all the way up, makes for some room in the trunk:rotflmao
